Quick Tip:

The Dynamic Heart

The heart provides a unique point from which anyone can regulate many of their reaction patterns. Learning to control your own heart rhythms gets to the heart of emotional control. It is self-empowering and self-transforming. It gives you access to an internal source of power and intelligence. The heart is so powerful-generating sixty times the electrical amplitude of the brain-that it can draw your brain, nervous system, and emotions into its coherent rhythms and unlock more of your own innate intelligence.

The emWave system or the emWave Personal Stress Reliever and Quick Coherence® technique show you how to bring the rhythms of your heart into more coherence on demand. As you practice, you will have more "aha!" experiences of understanding and mental clarity.

Useful Fact:
Connecting with Your Heart

Reflect on, and feel, your core values. When we are fulfilled, it is because of coherence between the values of our hearts and the actions we carry out in our lives. While our relationships will vary depending on the depth of trust, love, and commitment, the core-the heart-out of which we act does not change. In fact, the more consistently we act from our core values, the more the intelligence of these values unfolds.

emWave Function/Feature:
Replay Previously Recorded Sessions in Real-Time

When using your emWave software, you can select the current or any previously recorded session for demonstration or real-time replay. This can be convenient for demonstration purposes. The replayed data will run at original speed. The Games and Heart Rhythm screen will perform as if the data were live. This operation is very much like a player piano.

1. To use a previously recorded session, click on the review session icon review session icon, or select the Review Session item from the View pull-down menu.

5. Go to the Heart Rhythm Display screen and then press the Start icon to replay the previously selected session When the emWave is running in demo mode, a small "Demo (Simulator)" indication is visible in the lower-right-hand corner of the Heart Rhythm Display screen:

Note the pulse wave is not replayed in real-time, only the HRV wave.

Remember to switch from Simulator mode back to the sensor mode when you're done with the Simulator.

emWave story

This month’s emWave PSR quote comes from Wendy Warner, MD, Founder and Medical Director of Medicine in Balance, LLC and President of the American Board of Holistic Medicine

“Many, if not most, of my patients have physical complaints that stem, ultimately, from stress. As a holistic physician, I have a number of tools to help them, but what I find the most helpful are HeartMath's techniques and technologies, including their emWave Personal Stress Reliever. It provides patients with a way to have more control over their own health, and has often been more helpful in lowering the harmful effects of stress than anything else I've tried. In addition, it’s fun and free from side effects! HeartMath is an invaluable part of my practice.”

emWave Function/Feature:
Volume Level

You can adjust the Volume Level or turn it off only when your emWave is in an active session. The default Volume Level is one (Low). Once you have entered an active session, each short press on the bottom of the Sensor Button cycles you through the three Volume Level settings and “sound off”. Each time you perform a short press, you will hear a sound that corresponds to the Volume Level.

emWave® story
Weight Loss

This month’s emWave story was submitted by a weight loss clinic that uses the HeartMath System with their clients. Alex was referred for HeartMath training by his primary care physician because he was pre-diabetic, obese, and unable to lose weight despite many diets. He had a lot of anxiety. A highly successful owner in the high-stress construction industry in New York, Alex had his own kitchen and vending machine in his office, ate chocolate bars, and couldn’t resist eating the entire bread basket at the restaurant table. It would be gone before he knew it. Diagnosis: Obesity, high blood pressure, pre-diabetic, high anxiety, and anger. Alex had tried controlled eating programs but was unable to follow them. He kept a food diary, but he was referred to us because he knew what to do but couldn’t stick to it. He knew that a lot had to do with his temperament and the emotional stress he was under, causing anger and fear for his health, which was endangered when he came to us.

With HeartMath and the emWave system, Alex realized that he did have control over changing his heart rhythms. That was a big “a-ha” for him. After his first session with HeartMath tools and the emWave system, his family commented that he seemed more relaxed and he said he felt much better. Changing his heart rhythms and getting into a little coherence interrupted his familiar thought and emotion process. Because of his new control, even during heavy business decisions, he became more self-aware of what he was saying and doing. He also became more aware of what he was eating and had more control. After 5 sessions with the emWave system at our office over 2 months, and practicing the tools in between sessions, he has lost 36 lbs; his blood pressure has gone down 20 points (systolic) and 15 points (diastolic). His temperament has changed completely and he’s smiling and more relaxed overall. Recently he suffered the loss of a family member and was able to handle it without returning to his old habits. Unlike the other things he tried, he used the emWave system with no messing around—he went for it.
